Emergency Assistance Update – 03/26/2020

From Kitikiti’sh News by Terri Parton:

Emergency Assistance Update-03/26/2020
For enrolled Wichita Tribal Members Only:

The City of Anadarko has had a confirmation of the COVID-19 per the City of Anadarko’s post on the City of Anadarko’s Facebook page.

Tomorrow we will have a drive thru event so you can turn in your applications, however, it would be best and safer for everyone if you can email them or mail them.

You can fill out all 3 pages that were mailed to you or from the website. You can take pictures of the 3 completed pages, CDIB cards and other documents, if you can’t scan them and email them to:

emergencyassistanceCOVID19@wichitatribe.com

Your email address should have some identifying feature. Your application documents must have your signature.

The W9 should be the person who the check will be made out to and for our accounting people to enter your name and correct address on the system. You will not be taxed but it has to be filled out. Otherwise your application will be placed to the side as we are processing thousands in a short amount of time so we can get the assistance to our people in case we get to a point where we don’t have enough staff to process the payments.

We would prefer them emailed if at all possible. Emailed applications will be the 1st processed due to the changes that took place today regarding the COVID-19 in the City of Anadarko.

Help us help you and email them if you can. This will be a hard time for us all but this too will pass.

God bless you all. Pray for protection over our Wichita people, our Indian people, elders, children and all of our Communities.

The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes LIHEAP program has extended the heating assistance until April 30, 2020

Wichita and Affiliated Tribes – LIHEAP – COVID-19 (OKLAHOMA RESIDENTS ONLY)

The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes LIHEAP program has extended the heating assistance until April 30, 2020 to those who have not currently utilized heating assistance during this current fiscal year (Oct 1, 2019 to present). Funding is limited under this assistance and priority is still given to the vulnerable households which include elders, disabled members in the home, and small children in the home.

LIHEAP Crisis is available to those that can provide a cut-off notice from their utility/fuel provider or a letter from employer stating they have been laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. LIHEAP does not help with services that have already been disconnected and this funding will not pay for reconnect fees.

LIHEAP eligibility requirements does require that the applicant is an enrolled Wichita tribal member (18 years of age and older) and must be listed on the bill at the time of application submission. The assistance will be on a first-come first-serve basis. Applicants must meet federal income guidelines to be eligible. The COVID-19 revision to the income eligibility will no longer be to provide the last 30 days of income but will accept the last 14 days of income received from the date of the submitted application.

Applications may be accessed online on the tribe’s website (www.wichitatribe.com). The program can fax, email, and send by U.S. mail any requests for applications. The option for any home visits will only be available to critical conditions (48 hour cut off notice) for the elderly and those with physical disabilities that reside within Caddo County limits.

Those who have received LIHEAP assistance from another tribe or the Department of Human Services during this fiscal year may still be eligible to receive assistance but only after verification is completed and with all entities.
